Tower climber certificate

Target group:

Those who work on masts, telecom workers etc. This type of course is recommended in Swedish law (AFS 2000:6) for everyone working on masts or high poles. The participant shall be at least 18 years of age.

Course goals:

Following successful completion of the course, the participant shall:
Have knowledge of relevant laws and standards for working on masts.
Understand the importance of the weather
Have knowledge about dismantling of emergency workers
Understand the importance of a good safety plan, risk analysis, rescue plan, and be able to perform a work plan
Understand the importance of working ergonomically
Knowing Personal fall protection equipment is used correctly:
- Full-body harness
- Fall arrest lanyards
- Adjustable FA-lines
- Work Positioning lanyards
- Fall Arrest blocks (SRLs)
- Wire system
- Rail system
- Understanding what happens at a fall

Theoy:

What happens in a fall?
What does the relevant Health & Safety law say?
Liability and responsibilities of the employer and employee?
What does the relevant Work Environment Authority say?
What are CE and EN markings?
Terminology
Safety plan, risk analysis, rescue plan
What can be used as an anchorage point?
What equipment is used and how is it maintained?
High-frequency radiation – what is that?

Practical exercise:

Correct use of Personal Fall Protection Equipment
Climbing techniques
Use of sliding shoes in wire and rail systems
Lowering persons in distress
Single handed evacuation
Raising deadloads

Miscellaneous:

There is a written test at the end of the course. A certificate will be awarded after successful completion of the course.
